Diagnosis is crucial to figure out what repair needs to be done, when a problem can't be solve by just replacing a part of the device.

When is there a need for a diagnosis?

  • The device isn't working reliably (turns off, freezes, or other faults occur)

  • The issue is not always apparent

  • The device is so significantly damaged that it can’t be decided if it works at all

  • Devices that have been previously repaired and damaged elsewhere

  • Logic board repairs (even if the issue is known in advance)

  • Devices that had water damage

In which cases is a diagnosis necessary?

In general, everything that can’t be solved immediately via a simple part replacement.
80% of all repairs are immediate. Our customers bring in their devices and they leave with a fixed one in an hour.
However for this to happen, the issue has to be clear and well described, which can be fixed by replacing a module (e.g.: display, battery, cables) on the device.
All other cases require a diagnosis.

Diagnosis is free for our customers, but it also takes some time!

As a market-leading repair center, lots of people come to us with devices that have serious issues or those that have been to other repair shops. We believe that if there is a chance to fix them, we have to try. We don’t perform any repair without administration, a price bid, the explanation of the risks included and the explicit approval of our customer.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it take so long to diagnose logic board issues and to repair them?

Logic board repairs require great expertise. The need for this type of repair is continuously increasing and we try to do them with the best of our knowledge in the shortest amount of time - but even this has limits. These repairs can only conducted in our repair center by the most experienced and qualified technicians.

What is the order of device diagnosis?

The repairs are processed by arrival time. Most of them are very time consuming and frequent contact with the customer is necessary.

The statistics

Most of the devices left with us can be repaired and it’s worth it from a cost-benefit analysis to repair them, but the customers‘s assistance to be reachable and cooperative is also necessary. We can’t accept a diagnosis made by the customer - “replace this or that, I know what’s wrong with it” - or another repair center. Our experience has been that this approach almost always leads to more problems and bad decisions.

How can diagnostic process be sped up?

  • Please give us a real email address and phone number, on which we can reliably reach you with the price bid and other questions related to the repair. Without these the repair could be delayed by weeks.

  • Try to backup and save all data from the device if possible

  • Try software repairs at home if possible. In some cases a full software restore via iTunes of the device can help and lots of time and energy could be saved if it turns out the issue is only caused by the operating system.

  • If it’s necessary to save and backup data during the repair, please indicate that in advance

  • Please give us the password of the device to be able to test and repair it

The time this process takes

The time it takes to diagnose an issue and repair it could take 1‑or 2 weeks.

Unfortunately we are unable to give you a replacement device for this time.
Usually it takes 3-5 days to prepare the price offer, when that’s finished our colleagues notify the customer and send them the result of the diagnosis, the price bid and the possible risks involved.
(Devices that had water damage are cleaned in time - but diagnosis has to wait a bit in those cases as well.)

After these are accepted in an email, and if there are any questions we start the repair after a phone conversation.
Depending on the type of the issue this can take a further 1‑5 working days.

Things that can delay the process

  • The customer can’t be reached by our colleagues

  • We don’t have the required parts - which happens rarely

  • Illness or state holidays can also cause delays

On logic board repairs in general

The harder the repair is or the rarer the issue with the device is, the more time the process takes and the larger the risks involved. All models have typical issues, most of which we have previously observed - but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the specific device can be repaired. In the case of a complicated logic board fault there are inherent risks involved with any repair. High temperatures (3-400 celsius) are necessary to replace parts during logic board repairs, which can be dangerous for the panel if it has other hidden issues.

Unfortunately the logic board of contemporary smartphones are incredibly hard to repair, because the manufacturers optimize them to save place and they are not designed to be repaired. Apple doesn’t repair logic board issues, they just grade these as a total loss and replace the device for a significantly larger price. We try to help in all these cases, but we are not in an easy position. In the case of a logic board fault, we are trying to give a new life to a dead device, so succeeding is an impressive accomplishment in these circumstances. Therefore there an inherent risk has to be accepted, because nothing can be taken for granted with logic board repairs. Even with an expert team, we can’t guarantee a 100% success rate.
